Reaching over 24 million homes on over 225 cable television systems across 38 states, Cable Radio Network (CRN) is the country’s #1 radio service provider to the local cable marketplace.

Originating from studios located in Los Angeles, CRN is a 24/7 source for outstanding talk, news, sports and music radio programming, featuring such nationally recognized personalities as veteran talkmasters George Putnam, Doug Stephan, Terry Anderson and Mike Horn, renowned financial advisor Joe Battalglia, recognized sports authorities Jeff Walton and Fred Wallin, award-winning food and lifestyle experts Larry Lipson, Chef Piero, Les Kinkaid, Gina Gallo and Michael DeLoach, Ramsey Pollard and Linda Salvin.  On the entertainment beat, CRN is the exclusive home for popular original programming hosted by Ed McMahon, Greg Hunter and Dick Sinclair.

Launched in 1983, CRN has emerged as a must-have for local cable operators, and a must-listen for subscribers nationwide.  CRN is comprised of six individual digital radio networks – CRN1, CRN2, CRN3, CRN4, CRN5 and CRN6.  Each CRN network features a wide range of entertaining and informative programming, including multiple music formats and a full complement of sports, talk and news offerings.

CRN History

When a local cable system operator in Phoenix, Arizona decided to re-transmit a Los Angeles radio station’s signal on one of their available channels, little did they know the “borrowed” signal would pull an incredible 7 share – outperforming several of the major national cable networks.

Radio station executive and on-air personality Mike Horn read about the Phoenix development in an industry trade publication.  If one cable operator was having success with a radio feed, he thought, it made sense that systems nationwide would benefit from the same opportunity.

To further explore the question, he came upon numerous studies showing that people were listening to television – including such networks as MTV, VH-1 and CNN – rather than watching.

Horn soon concluded that by listening to the audio of various networks, subscribers were already treating their televisions as though they were radio.  Combine that with the success of an L.A. radio station on the Phoenix system and Horn was confident he could build CRN into a powerful radio network – with cable systems as its affiliates.

CRN Today

Today, CRN’s combined audience reach includes cable television systems, a recently announced affiliation with PAX-TV (SAP) and satellite.  In addition, CRN’s channels can be listened to from anywhere in the world via the Internet at www.crni.net.

Even terrestrial radio stations are climbing on board the CRN bandwagon, as scores of local radio broadcasters in key markets nationwide forge affiliations with CRN for the network’s quality original programming.

Along with cable operators and radio station affiliates, national and local advertisers have also discovered the immediate benefits of joining with CRN.  The combination of attractive CPM’s and a loyal listenership that responds to sponsored messages has attracted a who’s who list of major national advertisers.

CRN also points with pride to its top-flight staff and management team, with divisions that include programming, marketing, custom radio show production, advertising sales, affiliate relations and customer service.
