FGI Cable Rating Service

Description of Methodology: 3,365 random telephone numbers in the cable system's area were called using a telephone coincidental data collection methodology. Current viewing, seven-day, cume viewing, audience composition information, and responses to various qualitative questions was collected during this phase.

The telephone coincidental methodology is applied by selecting a random sample of households in the cable geography and segmenting that sample into "blocks" of numbers roughly equal in size. Each "block" is then assigned a specific 15-minute periods in the measurement window. That "block" is dialed in its allocated quarter-hour, and real-time viewing information is captured for each respondent who answers the phone.

Cable viewing information was collected from 687 households during the coincidental phase of the study. An additional 0 households were identified as "qualified for the study, meaning their home was connected to cable TV, during the enumeration phase. The total base number of households used in the coincidental ratings was 3,079.
